Savvy Suburbanite Photo Tuesday #2

I hope everyone had a nice Holiday- I sure did eat too much. I just can't get enough of the smorgasbord of appetizers and the cookies. I think I ate like 30 of these cookies...

I also got an amazing gift...
leave it to my brother-in-law, who is in the Halloween mask business, to stumbled upon my leg lamp! I am so bummed that I have to wait a whole year before I can see this is it full glory! But alas I will think of you often- leg lamp from a christmas story.

This is the first time I am entering in Meet Me on Monday! You need to answer five questions, I love these things, here are my answers:

1. My Favorite New Year's Eve plans are eating food and sitting on my couch

2.  I am 5'4", short I know :(

3.  My favorite pudding flavor is chocolate, I didn't know there was any other flavors?

4.  The room I blog the most in, is the bathroom... sadly.

5.  What is your best physical feature?

I found all my images on google except for the toilet...

Once again it is time to link up to the Savvy Suburbanites takes Photos on Tuesday!

Shopping!

I just had two more gifts to get today. I got out there early this morning so I could beat the crowd.  I needed to go to Bed Bath and Beyond (don't worry I brought my 20% off coupon with me) and to Maggianos.  I was in and out of both places in 15 minutes!

At home I pulled out my never ended roll of Costo Christmas wrapping paper and wrapped the last of my gifts.

Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday!

A Christmas Story

Everyone has Christmas traditions.  I like my moms cooking, sugar cookies, playing scrabble, and watching a Christmas Story.

I can not wait for Christmas Eve when TNT plays A Christmas Story over and over again. It has become tradition for my husband and I to watch this movie, at least once on Christmas Eve.

My favorite part of the movie is when he unwraps his leg lamp and places it in the front window. I would like to win something that I can place in my front window.  One day, that day will come, I guess.

Just a word to the wise, please refrain from touching your wet tongue against a freezing cold metal pole, thanks and Merry Christmas!

the Savvy Suburbanite is starting a Linky Party!

Photobucket" />

The link is open til the 24th of december!

I am one with my camera, I go and camera goes with me. I hate to think that I could miss out on the chance of taking a picture of "that". Whenever "that" presents itself. Its true, I like taking pictures, I also like looking at pictures and I like sharing pictures. Sometimes the picture is priceless...

sometimes a caption can really put things into perspective...

its that cold outside! or this picture was to delicious looking not to share,

...and so I have invented the Savvy Suburbanite takes photos on Tuesday. Show me what you photographed during the week and link up!

I Can Check This Off My List!

I was suppose to pick out a butcher block for the island counter top like yesterday, and yesterday, I think was definitely a couple of days go... I have to thank Domestically Speaking for reminding me to order it. She did a posting  For the Love of butcher block counter tops and I used this picture when I visited the butcher block factory outlet.

[Colombo+Lyptus+Edge+Grain+2.jpg]

This is just one more item I get to check off the master list. 56 or so more items to go and then I will have finished with that list, but we all know that a new list is right around the corner!

My Italian Stallion has Arrived!

...and his name is Dino D. Why is he my stallion? Because he helped my husband put the hardwood floor in! Here is my husband working on saturday...

Then Dino came over and the floor looked like this...

and when I came home it looked like this...

I should step out more often!

That's right the kitchen has a floor! And not only did the floor go in but the insulation too. Floors to walk on and insulation to keep the room warm. It's beginning to feel a lot like christmas a room!

The Challenge

I was reading Holly from NapTime and she posted "When its all said and done, will you have said more than you've done?" She peaked my interest.  Where did she get this question? Its part of 50 Question that will free my mind.  The questions looked interesting. I am going to join in.

I am not going to post all the questions or all my answers to each question. Just a few. With that said here goes question #...
  1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
ANSWER: 27

Golden birthday, brand new car, great boyfriend (I tied the knot with him), lots of ski trips, new job (lots of new friends came with this job- we had babies together) money in the bank, masters finished, self confidence on high- nothing could stop me! I would like to be forever 27, the only thing missing, my little peanut.

Remember I am living Christmas Vicariously through

my neighbors for this post. I scoped out the neighborhood last night while I walked the dog and neighbors- the street is lit up like a Christmas tree. I grabbed my camera and my tripod and started snap, snap, snappin' away.  I am probably going to be known as the neighbor that was invading your privacy, but, Whatever, if you don't like me taking picture of what's inside of your house than close the blinds!

When it comes to outside lights and decorations, I am a fan of white lights.  Here are a few of my favorites...

This is my favorite street!

This one is my favorite

I am not a fan of multicolored lights on a Christmas tree but this tree caught my eye from the street. Nice job neighbor!

When I was a kid I used to love riding around in the car with my grandpa, looking at Christmas lights and singing carols. He listened to my toneless voice sing for hours as I gave directions from the back seat. You just gotta love grandpa's! Then again he only had to endure this once a year!

BRAVE and STRONG

I have two friends named Carly. They both need lots of love and prayers.

Happy birthday to Carly she turns 28 today.  She recently had a heart attack and underwent quadruple by pass surgery- Unfortunately, her diabetes had gone undiagnosed for too long and it effected her heart.  She is so very BRAVE. We will be by soon... so Emmett can explorer all your pots and pans!

For my dear friend Carly, I hope you can help support her battle.  Her son, months ago, was diagnosed with Nueroblastoma.  Stahi's parents are STRONG. He has had 9 rounds of chemo and surgery.  Please support their fight by buying coffee @ this Stathi Saltis link

Thank you to everyone who helps. My heart goes out to my friends named Carly.

Who me?

I'm innocent... I did not dial 9-1-1 at grandma's house today. Grandma noticed I had the phone so she took it away from me and I started to cry, hysterically.  9-1-1 called back and keep asking grandma what the emergency was and whether they should send an ambulance out or not. hmmmmm... does anyone else's child have an obsession with buttons?

Christmas past...

I finally got my Christmas card out today. Phew. Just one more thing I can cross off of my GIGANTIC list of "things to do". Ya know- I love a good list but honestly, this list is way to loooong! I'll share some of it with you later.

For now I thought I would share some oldie but goodie past Christmas cards with you. Here is my son Emmett enjoying his first bow for Christmas...

-

Here is the Woodster and I @ our first ugly sweater party. circa 2007, also our Christmas card for the year. I couldn't past up the opportunity to make fun of myself.

We wore those outfits a few times that years. They were a huge hit at a NON-ugly sweater Christmas party as well... and they sure did get around.  I believe they ended up in someone else's Christmas card and at several more ugly sweater parties. Personally, I think my husband pulls off a woman's sweater vest nicely.

Christmas Window...

The front entry-way is about the only area in my house that is not overrun by boxes or cabinets or kitchen something or another. In the dining room where I would like to put my christmas tree there is a stove.

Although a very nice GE Cafe style stove, nonetheless, protective paper lay on all my hardwood floors and the clutter of the remodel has gotten to me. It feels chaotic because nothing is organized. I have come to the realization that the remodel has made it impossible to feel christmas in our new home. My suggestion for those of you that are thinking about remodeling, think about the perfect time of year to do it... if there is such a time?

I needed to leave the chaos so I went shopping. A little retail theory always makes me happy.  Close by is the Marshalls.  They had ornaments...

rows and rows, of ornaments...

I bought a few crackle, light blue and white ornaments and made this...

an ornament window.  Since I really like this entry window, I wanted to show case it.   I dug around in my christmas stuff and found some silver velvet ribbon to match the lead glass window and hung the ornaments with wrapping paper ribbon.  I think the rich wood color compliments the silver and blue, and green ornaments.

I know it is not much but at least it has christmas charm. The green cracked silver ornament is my favorite. I also found a snowflake at Menards while picking up caulk!

Christmas Card

I got my Christmas card picture totally by accident today. I pulled out a basket with ornaments and ribbons and my son brought them to the couch to play with. I snapped away because it was just too cute to pass up.

Christmas card worthy! Finally, I feel a little christmas-e. I don't think that christmas is going to happen at our house this year with all this remodeling... Now don't go and feel all sorry for us. We will just have to live vicariously through others!

I also bough a new stamp address because we have a new address! I picked out this design from Script and Scribble, I hope it arrives soon, so I can get these christmas cards out!

Custom Stamp CS3225

please note that this is not the actual size of the stamp- some people in my family have bad eyesight and needed to see this enlarged.

My "little" reindeer

I pulled out my trusty little Rudolph and started stamping away today. He's super cute. I bought him at the papersource, one of  my favorite paper stores! I like sending out thank you notes and cards during the holiday season with him on them.

You can place him on the front of envelopes...

Isn't he cute!

I only use color box ink. The color shows up the best and the ink pad lasts the longest. I know it costs more but it's worth it! Have fun stamping away!

Appendix

It has come to my attention- in the form of a complaint- from a family member (figures), that they cannot envision what I am envisioning in my head- Can you believe that? They can't see what is going on in my head.. therefore I drew up a stetch of my hutch with its two side nooks and took a picture of it. I posted it below- you can see the real deal here on a previous post!
