Like a Kid in a Candystore- My China Story

When my husband and I were getting married we decided to register at Macy's and Bed Bath and Beyond. I was fixated on getting my fine China. That was all I wanted. I think I nearly drove my bridesmaids crazy over it.

I have been dreaming of eating on my own china for years, inviting people over to eat on it.  I went as far as being the first to break it in. Alone.

Once I picked out the perfect pattern, Vera Wang Lace by Wedge Wood, I was done shopping for the shower.

In comes my husband. He got a hold of that gun thing and registered for his mandolin, his kitchen aid mixer, his Wusthof knives (the ones he was missing), his food processor, his bamboo cutting boards, etc...etc...

The day of the shower arrived and my husband started opening up his gifts. One by one he let everyone know " Oh I really wanted this! I picked this out! and I can't wait to use this!" He was a kid in a candy store acting like he had never scene any of these items before wide eye, grinning and happy.  We knew what we were getting because we were keeping track online.

He has used every item way more than twice.

I have a complete china set, my friends come over for dinner but we never use it.

  1. I bought myself a really nice set of glass drinking glasses. I use flimsy plastic cups instead. I feel your un-used pain :)

  2. Pull it out!! Use it!! What good is it stored away? My mom has crystal from my grandparents that they received for their wedding that THEY NEVER USED!
Hope you find a fun excuse to enjoy it again sometime. =)

  3. Use it! When you reach my age, you will sorely realize that you cannot take it with you. Your children will not want it, and it will bring pennies on the dollar at a yard sale. So enjoy it!

  6. Your china is beautiful!!! Pull it out and use it like there's no tomorrow!!! Make all your friends dress nicely and come over once a week!!! If they're busy, just dress yourself up once a week, make sure your husband brings home flowers, light some candles, open a bottle of bubbly and just ENJOY!!!!!

  10. First of all I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you don't
mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing.
I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out
how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Many thanks!
